IASS 2018 MIT

„Literal and phenomenal lightness: lightness, logics and aesthetics“ was the title of the paper I was happy to present at this year’s IASS conference at MIT. This contribution received its inspiration from the publication „Transparency“ by Colin Rowe and Robert Slutzky, which I was daring to re-interpret and transfer into the field of lightweight structures. Subsequently to Rowe and Slutzky’s discussion of transparency, comparing Gropius‘ Bauhaus building to Picasso’s painting „L’Arlesienne“, I took off comparing Candela and Mies, discussing the term „lightness“. My presentation was followed by an inspiring discussion, encouraging me to pursue this new track of investigations. See www.iass2018.org for more information. It has been a very inspiring conference!
